Wastewater Plant Technician I

The company is committed to building a culture that is focused on customer service, continuous improvement, respect, safety, compliance, and honesty.<br><br><strong>Position Summary<br><br></strong>The Wastewater Plant Technician I, will assist in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment processes, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards. This role plays a critical part in supporting the company’s mission of saving water and protecting the environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment processes, collaborating with colleagues to ensure efficient and environmentally responsible practices. This role is an mid-level role for individuals looking to start a career in environmental services and wastewater management.<br><br><strong>Essential Job Functions<br><br></strong><ul><li>Assist in monitoring and controlling wastewater treatment processes, including screening, sedimentation, filtration, controlling pH and polymer dosing and disinfection. </li><li>Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of treatment equipment, pumps, and tanks. </li><li>Record operational data, maintain logs, and prepare accurate reports as required. </li><li>Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot, and if necessary, assist to repair equipment and process issues. </li><li>Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures. </li><li>Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in wastewater treatment operations. </li><li>Monitor and operate pumps, valves, DAF, screeners, cake disposal and other equipment to control the flow and treatment of wastewater. </li><li>Adjust chemical feed rates and other controls to ensure proper treatment processes, under the direction of the Lead or Technician II. Operates daily production. </li><li>Respond to emergencies, such as equipment failures, power outages, or chemical spills, to minimize environmental impact and ensure continued operation. </li><li>Coordinate the drivers and unload the tankers efficiently. </li><li>Work with other technicians, drivers, and supervisors to optimize plant operations. </li><li>Communicate effectively with team members and report any issues or abnormalities. </li><li>Train new employees and share knowledge with team members. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities<br><br></strong>N/A<br><br><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><strong>CERTIFICATIONS: <br><br></strong><ul><li>OSHA Certification or equivalent safety training is preferred. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3-4 years of related work experience in an industrial environment; coursework in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or a related field preferred. </li><li>Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems is a plus. </li><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately. </li><li>Good problem-solving skills and willingness to learn. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Additional Information<br><br></strong><ul><li>This position may require occasional overtime or shift work, including weekends and holidays. </li><li>Opportunities for advancement and further training available for motivated individuals. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Physical Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs and ladders. </li><li>Ability to work in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions. </li><li>Must possess good vision and hearing for monitoring operations and identifying issues. </li><li>Work in confined spaces, including tanks and treatment areas. </li><li>Climb ladders and operate platforms at varying heights. </li><li>Work in varying weather conditions and exposure to unpleasant odors and potentially hazardous materials. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Equal Employment<br><br></strong>We are an equal opportunity employer; committed to equal treatment of all employees without regard to race, national origin, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, physical or mental disability or other basis protected by law.<br><br>WRM complies with the ADA and considers reasonable accommodation measures that may be necessary for eligible applicants/Employees to perform essential functions.
