Operations Manager – Execution, Accountability & Team Leadership
Overview
Compensation: $85,000–$100,000 base salary + performance bonus
Total compensation potential: up to $120,000 annually
Bright Lights LLC and its related companies are looking for a highly organized, technology-savvy Operations Manager whose primary responsibility is making sure things actually get done—correctly, on time, and without the owner having to continually remind people.
This is not an administrative assistant position.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys leading people, assigning work, following up, holding employees accountable, identifying problems, and having direct conversations when expectations are not being met.
This is a high-accountability leadership role. The right person will be comfortable giving clear direction, confronting missed expectations, and having difficult conversations when necessary. If you strongly prefer avoiding conflict, this position will not be a good fit.
You should be comfortable saying things like:
“This is not finished yet.”“This needs to be corrected.”“I need this completed by 3:00 PM.”“What is preventing this from getting done?”“This is the result Dustin actually asked for.”
You should be able to build good relationships with employees while still being completely comfortable giving direction and holding people accountable.
What you will do
- Listen to instructions, meetings, conversations, emails, and voice notes from the owner and turn them into clear action items.
- Decide who needs to do what, assign the work, establish deadlines, and make sure expectations are understood.
- Manage employee responsibilities and follow-up primarily through Asana.
- Follow up with employees proactively instead of waiting for the owner to ask whether something was completed.
- Hold employees accountable when deadlines or expectations are missed.
- Have direct and sometimes difficult conversations professionally when work is incomplete or incorrect.
- Determine whether a task was actually completed correctly, rather than simply accepting that someone checked a box.
- Require appropriate proof of completion such as reports, photos, screenshots, numbers, customer communication, or system records.
- Coordinate work between employees and departments.
- Identify recurring problems, missed responsibilities, and operational bottlenecks.
- Maintain recurring responsibilities so important work does not depend on someone remembering it.
- Turn recurring work into documented procedures and systems.
- Update procedures when employees identify a better way of doing something.
- Use AI and automation to reduce repetitive follow-up and administrative work.
- Provide the owner with short exception reports showing what actually requires his decision or attention.
You must be comfortable leading people
This is one of the most important requirements of the position.
We want someone who naturally takes ownership and is comfortable:
- Giving clear direction.
- Telling employees what needs to be done.
- Following up repeatedly when necessary.
- Asking difficult questions.
- Bringing problems to the surface instead of ignoring them.
- Correcting employees when something is not being done properly.
- Setting expectations and deadlines.
- Making routine decisions independently.
- Holding people accountable without becoming disrespectful or emotional.
We are not looking for someone whose main priority is avoiding conflict or keeping everyone happy.
You can be friendly, professional, and well-liked while still being a strong manager.
Technology is a major part of this position
A large portion of this role will be computer-driven.
You must be very comfortable with technology and able to learn new software quickly.
You may work with systems including:
- Asana
- Gmail / Google Workspace
- Google Calendar
- ChatGPT and other AI tools
- Shopify
- Inventory and warehouse software
- CRM and sales systems
- Reporting dashboards
- Automation tools
You do not need to know every system on day one, but you must be confident with computers, type efficiently, learn software quickly, and be comfortable using AI as part of your daily work.
Someone who struggles with computers or is resistant to learning new technology will not be a good fit for this role.
Example of the job
The owner might say:
“Armando needs to get Jonathan’s sales report every day, compare customers against last year, identify customers who are only buying part of what they normally purchase, contact those customers, and try to complete the sale.”
Your responsibility would not simply be to remind Armando.
You would need to make sure:
- Jonathan provides the report.
- Armando receives it.
- Armando actually reviews the customers.
- Questionable accounts are contacted.
- Results are documented.
- Incomplete work is followed up on.
- The process is improved when a better method is identified.
- The owner is only involved when his decision is actually needed.
That is what we mean by owning the outcome.
The person we are looking for
The strongest candidate will be:
- Extremely organized.
- Assertive and confident.
- Direct but professional.
- Comfortable with conflict.
- Comfortable managing different personalities.
- Persistent with follow-up.
- Excellent at listening and understanding verbal instructions.
- Able to turn conversations into organized systems.
- Good at distinguishing activity from actual results.
- Strong with computers and software.
- Fast at learning technology.
- Comfortable using AI.
- Able to manage many moving pieces at once.
- Able to recognize problems before the owner points them out.
- Someone who naturally thinks: “I own this until it is finished.”
Management, operations, project management, warehouse operations, sales management, or similar leadership experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with Asana or comparable project-management software is a major plus.
What success looks like
Success is simple:
The owner should no longer have to remember everything or continually chase employees.
If Dustin gives an instruction, you take ownership from there.
Employees know what they need to do.
Deadlines are followed up on.
Problems are addressed.
Work is verified.
Systems stay updated.
Processes improve.
And Dustin only gets involved when something genuinely requires his decision.
Compensation
Base salary: $85,000–$100,000 per year, depending on experience
Performance bonus available
Total compensation potential: up to $120,000 annually for exceptional performance
We are willing to pay at the high end for the right person who can truly take ownership of execution, employee accountability, and day-to-day operational follow-through.
