Facilities Project Manager

<p style="text-align: justify"><u style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0"><strong style="font-weight: 700">Salary Informatio</strong><strong style="font-weight: 700">n:</strong></u><br style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0"><span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: left; text-indent: 0">The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement.  All new employees will be hired at the minimum salary in the range and will be eligible for merit increases until reaching the maximum salary in the range.</span></p><strong><u>Definition:</u></strong><br>Incumbents perform project management functions over capital improvement projects and maintenance of existing facilities.  As on-site representatives of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), incumbents manage the work of contractors involved in the design and engineering of construction projects; manage the work of building contractors; manage the planning, scheduling, and performance of maintenance contracts and activities for all LVMPD buildings, facilities, and equipment; and collaborate, work in conjunction with and lead Facilities Maintenance Coordinators, Building Services Technicians and custodial staff.<br> <em><br><a href="" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Click here to view a complete copy of the class specification, including environmental and physical conditions.</a></em><p style="text-align: justify"><strong><u>Training, Education and Experience</u></strong></p><ul><li style="text-align: justify">Five years of increasingly responsible experience in managing construction projects, including managing the work of contractors involved in construction design and engineering and contractors involved in facility construction and maintenance, which covers contract management and electrical, mechanical, and structural systems and repairs; and</li><li style="text-align: justify">An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in construction management, facilities management, drafting, architectural design, engineering or a related area, or equivalent; and</li><li style="text-align: justify">Possession of a Class C Nevada Driver License.</li><li style="text-align: justify">Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument</li><li style="text-align: justify">Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument</li></ul><div style="text-align: justify"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify"><strong><u>Best Candidates Will Have</u></strong></div><br><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li style="text-align: justify">Five or more years of supervisory experience in facility maintenance management to include electrical, mechanical/HVAC/plumbing, and multi-discipline building repairs.</li><li style="text-align: justify">Post-high school education in the electrical trade, mechanical trade, general construction, and/or management.</li><li>A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Drafting, Architectural Design, Engineering or a related area, or equivalent.</li><li>More than eight years of experience in managing construction projects and facility maintenance; managing the work of contractors involved in construction design and engineering and contractors involved in facility construction; facility maintenance which covers contract management of janitorial, landscaping, including electrical, mechanical, and structural systems maintenance and repairs.</li><li>Current certification as a Certified Construction Manager issued by the American National Standards Institute; or comparable professional certifications in construction management issued by an accredited college or university.</li></ul><p style="text-align: justify"> </p><div style="text-align: justify"><strong><u>Conditions of Employment</u></strong></div><div style="text-align: justify">In addition to the General Conditions of Employment, found <a href="" target="_blank">here</a>, the following specific conditions of employment and physical conditions apply to this position.</div><ol><li style="text-align: justify"><em><u>Personal Appearance:</u> </em>While on duty, and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all Department employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public. Employees are prohibited from attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles or jewelry on or through the nose, tongue, eyebrow or other exposed body part, except the ears for females, while on duty. Employees are prohibited from stretching or "gauging" their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. <span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); font-style: normal; text-indent: 0">Such markings must be covered by clothing. Markings that cannot be covered by clothing will be covered using neutral-toned bandages or patches except for hands, neck, head, or face tattoos.</span> Makeup is not permissible to cover a tattoo. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited.</li><li>Participate in the LVMPD Mental Wellness Program.</li><li><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify">Office and construction site environments, travel from site to site in urban or rural areas; exposure to computer screen, unforeseen inclement weather, power tools, noise, dust, smoke, fumes, confined spaces, and high voltage.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify">Vision sufficient to read the computer screen, as well as fine prints in documents.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify">Hearing sufficient to hear conversations and directions in person and over the telephone.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify">Mobility sufficient to climb, bend, stoop, reach, and kneel.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify">Dexterity and mobility sufficient to work in the office, use standard office equipment, drive a motor vehicle to visit various Department offices and work sites; operate assigned equipment and vehicles, climb ladders and stairs, if necessary.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify">Strength sufficient to lift and carry moderately heavy items such as stacks of files and plans, with or without the aid of equipment.</p></li><li><p style="margin: 0; text-align: justify">Endurance sufficient to sit or stand for prolonged periods to<strong><em> </em></strong>complete assigned tasks; stand and move around while working indoors, outdoors or within confined space; or to wear Personal Protective Equipment in special situations.</p></li></ol><p style="text-align: justify"><strong><u>Application Filing</u></strong><br>Applications must be submitted online and received by the posted closing date and time.  Decisions on an applicant's qualifications for this position will be made solely on the information contained in the application and therefore, should be filled out in its entirety.<br>To determine your status after submitting an employment application, you may access your account by going to <a href="" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">  <br><br><br><strong><u>Application Screening (Pass/Fail)</u></strong><br>Applications will be reviewed to determine those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications. A dictionary and grammar reference may be brought to the Written Exam to be used in preparing the writing sample. Those continuing from the Written Exam to the Oral Board Exam will have their writing sample submitted to the Oral Board rating panel for evaluation as part of that process.</p><p style="text-align: justify"><br><strong>Exam #2: Oral Board (Weighted 60%)</strong> <strong>– Wednesday, October 28, 2026    </strong>   <br><br>*The LVMPD reserves the right to modify the selection processes and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.<br><br>**Due to security reasons, personal belongings permitted in the testing facility will be limited.
