Because She Creature is a D2C-first brand, the identity needs to work not only at a high conceptual level, but across the full customer journey—from first impression and acquisition through conversion, retention, and repeat purchase.

From there, we hope to develop an ongoing freelance relationship as new products, campaigns, content, collaborations, and channels come online.

You’ll work closely with the Founder and Creative Director, translating a strong existing creative vision into a brand system that feels cohesive, ownable, and capable of growing with the company.

THE BRAND

She Creature lives somewhere between wellness, beauty, femininity, mythology, and rebellion.

We are deliberately moving away from the minimalist, pharmaceutical, millennial-beige visual language that has come to dominate the wellness category.

Our current creative direction is vintage tropical botanical collage meets sun-faded postcard, with a warm golden yellow as the dominant tone and a supporting palette of mint, coral, blush, and botanical greens.

The visual vocabulary includes tropical flora, oceanic and celestial references, tentacle motifs, feminine forms, unexpected juxtapositions, vintage ephemera, illustration, texture, and collage.

It should feel maximalist, richly illustrated, sensual, intelligent, slightly strange, and unmistakably feminine—but never juvenile, kitschy, clinical, or generically “wellness.”

We have a point of view. We’re looking for someone who can help us make that point of view into a world.

WHAT YOU’LL HELP CREATE

The initial scope is expected to include:

A comprehensive visual brand identity system and brand guide

Refinement and expansion of our existing creative direction

Color, typography, hierarchy, composition, texture, illustration, collage, and imagery systems

Rules for recurring brand motifs and graphic elements

Product packaging design and packaging system development

Website and ecommerce visual assets, including homepage, product-detail, educational, promotional, and campaign modules

A modular email design and template system for launches, promotions, education, retention, and lifecycle marketing

Paid advertising creative systems for Meta, Google, TikTok, and other performance channels

Organic social creative frameworks

Launch campaign assets and supporting collateral

Visual systems for future landing pages, offers, bundles, subscriptions, and product launches

Templates that allow the internal team to maintain consistency without making the brand feel templated

Production-ready design files and organized source assets

Guidance for extending the system across future products, campaigns, and channels

A key part of the assignment will be determining how the brand maintains a strong, recognizable visual identity while adapting intelligently to different D2C environments. A packaging panel, paid-social ad, landing page, retention email, and Instagram post should clearly belong to the same universe without simply repeating the same composition.

The exact initial scope will be finalized together based on experience, recommendations, and launch priorities.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a designer with a sophisticated eye and enough experience to think in systems rather than individual deliverables.

You should have a strong portfolio of brand identity work and ideally experience in one or more adjacent categories such as beauty, wellness, supplements, fashion, editorial, hospitality, luxury consumer goods, ecommerce, or female-focused brands.

Experience working with D2C or ecommerce brands is strongly preferred. You should understand that a successful consumer identity has to retain its character while functioning across very different contexts—from high-concept brand storytelling to highly practical conversion-focused creative.

We’re especially interested in designers who are comfortable working with illustration, collage, pattern, typography, photography, packaging, and dense visual compositions. If your instinct is always to remove elements until only a sans-serif wordmark and a neutral color field remain, this probably isn’t the project for you.

Strong candidates will be equally comfortable with high-level creative thinking and the less glamorous realities of building a functioning brand: packaging files, typography rules, reusable templates, responsive digital applications, ad variations, production specifications, and organized working files.

Experience with supplement, beauty, CPG packaging, ecommerce, or performance-marketing creative is highly valuable but not mandatory.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who understands how to create a brand for women without defaulting to wellness clichés or treating femininity as a collection of predictable visual tropes.

HOW WE WORK

This will be a collaborative relationship with direct access to the Founder and Creative Director.

We have already developed significant thinking around the brand, its personality, visual references, customer, and creative territory. You will not be starting from an empty page—but we also do not want someone who simply executes instructions.

We want a designer who will engage with the material, challenge things when appropriate, introduce ideas we haven’t considered, and help us establish the design logic that will allow She Creature to become recognizable across everything it touches.

Because this is a D2C business, we also value designers who understand that brand and performance are not opposing disciplines. The goal is to create work that is distinctive enough to build long-term brand equity while remaining flexible enough to support real-world marketing, testing, acquisition, and conversion.

Being based in Los Angeles is a plus, particularly because occasional in-person working sessions, packaging reviews, shoots, and production conversations could be valuable. However, we care more about finding the right creative partner than geography, and exceptional remote candidates are absolutely welcome.

ENGAGEMENT

Type: Freelance / work-for-hire

Commitment: Part-time, project-based initially, with the intention of an ongoing relationship

Location: Los Angeles preferred; remote considered

Start: Now

Initial project budget / rate: Indefined, so please share your rate(s). We value talent and the education it takes to develop its expertise and therefore believe you deserve to be compensated for it.

The workload will likely fluctuate as we move through brand development, launch, packaging production, ecommerce, customer acquisition, and ongoing marketing.

TO APPLY

Please send:

A portfolio or website

A short introduction

2–4 projects you feel are particularly relevant to She Creature and why

Your location and availability

Your typical hourly, day, or project rate

A brief description of your role on the work shown, particularly where projects involved teams or agencies

If you have relevant work across D2C, ecommerce, packaging, email, paid social, or digital campaign systems, please call it out.

Optional, but we’d genuinely like to know: What brand, publication, artist, designer, or piece of packaging do you think does maximalism exceptionally well?

We care much more about taste, thinking, and relevant work than a perfectly formatted résumé.
